Crewmember focus
Tamica Davis is Senior Director of Crewbase Flight Attendant Scheduling
CLT Crewbase
This month, station personel based out of KETN are taking a small leave; those who are transferring to Charlotte NC CLT or other stations are already
at their new stations. KETN is getting a short vacation, at least the station personel. Maintenance has been continually up and going on an uninterrupted basis.
But January for those working the station is a nice quiet month. SOme are traveling, catching up on things personal, cause they know that in February, they are
getting a new but reduced flight schedule. For most, the move was Charlotte NC CLT, as with alot of station personel and Crewmembers at Atlanta GA ATL.
Atlanta has become a smaller hub/focus city. Our Charlotte NC CLT operations have grown more during this past month than we ever imagined just a few years ago.
Charlotte has become a super hub for us. Must of it to do with location and much of it to do with our history.
Charlotte was our birthplace for Pinellas Airlines. Most people think we started out at St Pete / Clearwater PIE, but in fact, though our first flights operated to and
from Tampa and Ft Lauderdale and in much of Florida, our HQ at that time was Charlotte. Our full intent was to focus our operations into and within the state of Florida ergo our name. It was not until 1988 and 1989 that we began to move our hub operations into Orlando FL MCO and Tampa FL TPA.
Then in the early 1990s, we moved our HQ from Charlotte to where it is now, at St Pete / Clearwater FL PIE airport.
So, Charlotte is one of our favorite places on earth.
It was not easy for a few years as our station traffic in Charlotte was about that of a small station. Charlotte traffic began to grow slowly in the early 2000s.
It was a focus city for a long while and retained hub status within the past few years.
As a hub, I think Charlotte has alot of other cities in the southeast beat.
The layout of the airport is superb. The new runway to the west makes a hub even more operationable.
The city is business friendly and the people here are from all walks of life, from all over the world.
Charlotte NC is truly a world class city with many advantages over other southeastern locales.
So, I am not only happy be from Charlotte.... I am thrilled to be able to work in Charlotte.
As always, clear skies!
